Adam McCarthy, Claire Holland, and I at the Manchester Institute Of Innovation Research and the Future Biomanufacturing Research Hub have been developing and testing a tool that facilitates quick, early and low-cost engineering biology project assessment with consideration of environmental, societal and economic aspects.
While not a substitute for a fully-fledged LCA, techno-economic analysis, or societal assessment, our approach can give valuable early hints as to potential issues.
